Metcalfe’s Law : Key to Bitcoin’s future valuation

Analyst Timothy Peterson is back with a bold prediction for Bitcoin. Known for predicting that Bitcoin would never drop below $10,000 in the previous cycle, he also forecasted Bitcoin’s bottom in September last year.

He is now back with an optimistic prediction for Bitcoin using Metcalfe’s Law, which leverages network effects. In essence, as the number of users increases, BTC becomes more valuable in people’s eyes.

According to Timothy Peterson, this law will drive Bitcoin’s future valuation to $1.5 million by 2035. “The value of the Bitcoin network follows an exponential curve, meaning its price should experience a phenomenal increase in the years to come,” explains the analyst on X.

This ambitious prediction aligns with those based on power laws. However, Peterson stated that the power law was “not a model, but an application of historical relationships.”

A passing turbulence

The original cryptocurrency has already gained over 70,000% since its inception in 2009. Despite recent market turbulence, Peterson remains convinced that the long-term bullish trend remains intact. “Bitcoin has yet to finish its downward trend, but that’s entirely normal in a volatile context. By 2035, its price will have far exceeded a million dollars,” he asserts confidently.

Furthermore, he states that Q4 of 2024 was the second worst quarter of growth for BTC in the last 10 years. This prediction helps provide perspective on short-term movements.

Bitcoin bounced back in the $91,000 range, as predicted in our previous article. The Bitcoin price is currently at $94,000 and could reach $96,000 before the weekend.

Experts predict a BTC peak at $1 million in the next cycle, in 2031. Peterson’s prediction is not entirely out of reach.

In conclusion, this suggests a peak of this cycle at over $150,000 with Metcalfe’s Law. Currently, the market is divided between a necessary correction between $81,000 and $88,000 or a rebound before Trump’s inauguration.

On the other hand, PlanC and his probability model place BTC in the second range of his band. The cycle’s peak is reached when it enters the fourth zone. This model predicts a peak between $350,000 and $150,000 minimum.
